Good afternoon. Alabama. I'm Aaron Jolly. Seventy-eight degrees at sunrise. Let that sink in. We're talking early March. And it feels like late April decided to show up early. This warmth isn't going anywhere fast. In the next 24 hours. Today's the kind of day where you'll wonder if your calendar's lying to you. Clear skies wall to wall across Alabama. Central Alabama climbs to 82 degrees by mid-afternoon. Down along the coast? Eighty degrees with a gentle south breeze at 10 miles an hour. Northern Alabama matches that warmth, but watch for southwest winds gusting to 50 miles an hour. Tonight stays mild. Lows only drop to the low 60s. Sixty-one degrees inland, 66 along the coast. Partly cloudy. And patchy fog may creep in near the Gulf after midnight. Friday's when things get interesting. Clouds build in. And scattered showers and thunderstorms fire up after noon. Central Alabama sees a coin flip chance of storms, with highs near 81 degrees. The coast gets patchy morning fog, then a 40 percent chance of storms by afternoon, topping out at 79 degrees. Northern Alabama? Mostly sunny early, then storms possible after 11 A.M., with highs reaching 82 degrees. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Saturday turns active. Showers and thunderstorms likely, especially afternoon and evening. There's a marginal risk for severe weather, with damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour possible. Sunday keeps the rain going, with a 70 percent chance of storms and highs in the low 70s. Monday brings a 60 percent chance of storms, then drier weather arrives Tuesday before another system moves in Wednesday. The big picture? We're running 50 degrees to 50 degrees warmer than normal all week. Some spots could challenge record highs. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
