  • Louisiana Weather March 5 Morning - 49° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good morning. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. That overnight rain dropped eight-tenths of an inch and left us with a gift. Dense fog hugging the coast. A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M. For Lower Terrebonne. Lower Lafourche. Coastal Jefferson. And Lower Plaquemines. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile. If you're driving, take it slow and use those low beams. In the next 24 hours. Here's the big story today. We're running hot. 49 degrees to 49 degrees above normal for early March. Near-record territory, folks. Down in Southeast Louisiana, that morning fog burns off to partly sunny skies. You'll hit 80 degrees this afternoon. A slight chance of a shower pops up between 3 and 5 P.M., but most of you stay dry. Tonight, patchy fog rolls back in after 3 A.M. With a low of 68. Up in the Capital Region, same deal. Patchy fog clears by mid-morning, then partly sunny and 84 degrees. That's exceptionally warm. Showers are possible between 2 and 5 P.M. Tonight drops to 67 with more fog developing late. Over in Northwest Louisiana, no rain today. Just partly sunny skies and 84 degrees. South winds pick up to 15 miles an hour with higher gusts. Tonight stays dry at 67. Friday keeps the warmth going. Low to mid-80s again. But rain chances climb. Showers and thunderstorms become more widespread Friday night into Saturday. Sunday looks particularly wet across the state. Then the pattern flips. A cold front sweeps through Wednesday, dropping temperatures significantly. Enjoy this early taste of spring while it lasts. Cooler air is waiting in the wings. • Louisiana Weather March 4 Evening - 62° Above Normal
    Mar 5 2026
Good evening. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside tonight and you might think we skipped straight to May. The air is thick, warm. And loaded with Gulf moisture. We only dropped to 66 degrees overnight. That's a solid 62 degrees warmer than usual for early March. Tack on the nearly an inch of rain we saw yesterday. And you've got a genuine tropical vibe settling over the bayou. In the next 24 hours. Tonight stays mild and muggy. Lows statewide hold right at 66. You'll see some patchy fog develop late, especially along the coast and up through the Capital Region. If you're commuting early Thursday morning, give yourself some extra time. The visibility might be tricky in spots. Thursday brings even more heat. Southeast Louisiana climbs to 81 degrees. The Capital Region hits 84. Northwest Louisiana tops out at 85. We're running a solid 62 degrees to 62 degrees above normal. That puts us dangerously close to record territory. You might see a stray shower pop up south and east in the afternoon, but most of us stay dry. The pattern flips Friday. A storm system rolls in and parks right over us. Showers and thunderstorms become likely Friday and Saturday. Some spots could see a solid one to two inches of rain. Northwest Louisiana sees the best chance of getting drenched Saturday. The humidity hangs around into early next week. We keep the warmth, but we also keep the daily storm chances. Tonight's full moon will have to fight through all that cloud cover. Sunrise is at 6:29. We're picking up nearly two minutes of daylight every single day. The spring equinox is just two weeks away. Keep that umbrella handy for Friday. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

  • Louisiana Weather March 4 Morning - Unseasonably Warm
    Mar 4 2026
Good morning. Louisiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you might think someone fast-forwarded the calendar to May. We're sitting at 70 degrees at sunrise. And the thermometer barely dipped overnight. We're running a solid 61 degrees warmer than usual for early March. That's the kind of mild that makes you want to call in sick. In the next 24 hours. Let's take a tour of what's happening across the state. Down in Southeast Louisiana, you're dealing with some patchy fog, but that burns off by 7 A.M. Then it's mostly sunny. You'll hit 79 degrees with a nice southeast breeze around 7 miles an hour. The Capital Region might hear a few rumbles of thunder. You've got a chance of showers and storms from 11 A.M. Through 5 P.M. — keep that umbrella handy. Highs top out near 81 degrees. Northwest Louisiana sees the warmest readings. Partly sunny skies and a high of 84 degrees. South winds pick up to 15 miles an hour this afternoon. Tonight, lows settle in the mid-60s statewide. Fog develops after midnight, especially along the coast and around Baton Rouge. Looking ahead, this warm, humid pattern holds firm. Thursday brings another unseasonably warm day with highs in the 80s. Then afternoon storm chances increase Friday and especially this weekend. A weather system brings better rain chances Saturday through Monday — we could finally see some much-needed rainfall. Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. If the fog holds off, it should be a beautiful view. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
