This Friday, January 30th, He Said, He Said, He Said Live invites you into a world where storytelling becomes healing andtransformation begins in the quiet.

Our special episode, “Meditation, Magic, and Manhood: The Transformative Fiction of Douglas Bell,” spotlights awriter whose work is changing how we see identity, love, and resilience.

Writing under the name Douglas Bell, author Troy Porter brings bold, emotionally rich stories rooted in the culture, food, architecture, and spirit of Houston. After a life-altering personal awakening and a deep immersion in Buddhist philosophy, Bell now uses fiction as a vehicle for healing—especially for Black men whose stories are too often overlooked or unheard.

    We’ll explore his groundbreaking trilogy:

Cakewalk— a story of a successful Black man secretly in love with a transgender woman, wrestling with fear, faith, and self-acceptance in the middle of Houston’s LGBTQ+ civil rights battle.

LoveCake — set during COVID, Black Lives Matter, and political unrest, where Bryan and Nadia build Texas’s first trans-owned bakery and discover that forgiveness is the hardest—and most necessary—ingredient.

Threads of Purpose — the story of a young doctor facing collapse, who finds healing and clarity through meditation, and learns that transformation begins in stillness.

These are not just novels. They are mirrors. They aremedicine. They are maps for anyone searching for peace, purpose, and the courage to be real.

Join us Friday night for a conversation about spirituality, masculinity, mindfulness, and the magic of becoming who you truly are.

  • Let's Get Newsy XL (40)
    Jan 18 2026

Tune in Friday, January 16, 2026 @ 7pm EST/4pm PST/6pm CST for the next “He Said, He Said, He Said Live!” A Look atthe World from A Seasoned Black Man’s Perspective… because one perspective isn’t enough for “Let’s Get Newsy XL (40).”

Alvin, Bobby and Shawn turn up the volume with Let’s Get Newsy XL — Episode 40, and the conversation is as big as the moment. We’re starting with Washington, where the House has passed a three-year extension of ACA subsidies with bipartisan support, including 17 Republicans crossing the aisle—raising real questions about healthcare, politics, and what compromise looks like in this climate. From there, we shiftto a powerful human story as Vietnamese Buddhist monks make a 2,300-mile pilgrimage from Texas to Washington, D.C., carrying a message of peace, loving-kindness, and compassion that feels especially urgent right now.

We’ll also dig into stories that aren’t getting the attention they deserve, including serious questions surrounding the killing of Keith Porter by an off-duty ICE agent in Northridge, Los Angeles, and why so little has been said about it publicly.Internationally, the Nobel Institute has reportedly rejected an unusual request involving Maria Karina Matata’s office and a proposal to share a Peace Prize with Donald Trump, while closer to home, Yang and Matt Rogers are urgingsupporters not to waste money on Jasmine Crockett’s Senate run. Add to that FIFA refunding roughly 16,000 members ahead of the 2026 World Cup amid U.S. boycott concerns, and there’s no shortage of news to unpack.

And then it’s on to entertainment, where awards season is already heating up. Teyana Taylor has taken home a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, Sinners is dominatingthe conversation after winning Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, and rivalries in music and film have everyone talking. Mary J. Blige is set to launch a Las Vegas residency in May 2026, sharing the spotlight with Bruno Marsas his tour kicks off the same month, while Jill Scott returns with a new solo project that has fans eagerly waiting to see what she brings next. Plus, the guys break down the fashion hits from the Golden Globes and give their take on who understood the assignment.

It’s news, culture, music, style, and unfiltered conversation—all in one place. This one is truly newsy for everybody, so tune in, tap in, and check us out this Friday on He Said, He Said, He Said LIVE.

  • Public Lives, Private Choices, and the Price of Visibility
    Jan 10 2026

Tune in Friday, January 9, 2026 @ 7pm EST/4pmPST/6pm CST for the next “He Said, He Said, He SaidLive!” A Look at the World from A Seasoned Black Man’s Perspective…because one perspective is not enough!” for “Public Lives, Private Choices, and the Price of Visibility” A cultural conversation about scrutiny, power, morality, and who gets grace in the public square.

This week, our planned conversation on Joy had to be rescheduled. And instead of forcing the moment, we chose to face it. Because too much is happening. And too many people are talking—without context. So, this Friday, we’re sitting down, getting comfortable, and telling it like it is.

We’re unpacking the stories dominating the airwaves and timelines:

The controversy surrounding Dr. Karri Bryant’s dress and what it revealed about respectability, religion, and control

Nicki Minaj, her political alignment, and the backlash that followed

The Black gay violinist suing Will Smith and the power dynamics behind who gets heard

The wave of cancellations at the Kennedy Center after Donald Trump put his name on the building

Black consumers are accusing Lululemon of racial profiling.

Serious sexual allegation cases involving Donnie McClurkin and Tyler Perry

We honor the special gift of Richard Smallwood (1948 – 2025)

This isn’t gossip. This isn’t cancel culture. This is culture—under pressure. We want to know how you feel. We want honest reactions. We want real conversation. Pull up a chair. Let’s talk about it.
