Le Morne Brabant is Mauritius' most iconic mountain and you can hike up to the summit. It is a strenous and difficult hike but the views from the top are amazing and worth the effort. Ashdown Gorge is often called a less crowded alternative to The Narrows of Zion National Park. I have done both hikes now and of course compared them. In today's episode I will tell you all about this amazing hike at the stunning Cedar Breaks National Monument, my perfect escape from hot Las Vegas in August. It was an adventure in many ways and I did not come as prepared as I should have.

This episode is the best example for why it is always good to have a plan B. Because not every time, everything goes according to plan. But if you are flexible, you can still have a great time and a good adventure. This is what happened to me when I went to Lake Superior to explore the Apostle Islands by kayak. Hiking the Narrows is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as it is no ordinary hike. There is no trail, you hike through a river with all its obstacles through a narrow canyon and its wall closing in on you. There are three possibilities to hike it and I chose to hike it top to bottom all the way and camp overnight inside the canyon.
