In this week's episode I chat with one of my favourite humans in the world, Leanne.

Leanne and I engage in a candid conversation about grief, exploring the complexities of losing a parent at a young age. Leanne shares her personal experience of losing her mother when she was just a few months old, discussing the challenges of growing up without that maternal figure and the societal pressures surrounding grief. The discussion delves into the importance of talking about loss, the impact of unprocessed emotions, and the need for open conversations about grief to foster healing and understanding.

The episode serves as a reminder of the importance of community and support in the grieving process, encouraging listeners to embrace their feelings and seek connection with others who understand their pain. In this heartfelt conversation, Leanne and I delve into the complexities of grief, particularly focusing on the loss of loved ones and pets. We discuss the societal stigma surrounding pet bereavement and the emotional toll it takes on individuals who form deep connections with their animals. Leanne shares her experiences as a pet bereavement counsellor, emphasising the importance of recognising the profound bond between humans and their pets, especially for those who may have faced trauma or loss in their lives. The discussion also touches on the challenges of navigating grief in a world that often invalidates personal experiences, highlighting the need for empathy and understanding in conversations about loss.

As the conversation progresses, Leanne reflects on her own journey through grief, acknowledging the resilience it has fostered within her. The episode concludes with a powerful reminder that while grief is a universal experience, it is also deeply personal, and everyone navigates it in their own way.

Leanne is off travelling the world at the moment and if you'd like to follow her journey you can here on - @endoftheroadtravel (also on youtube for some amazing vlogs!)

In this episode of Grief is My New Hobby, I open up about my own journey through grief after losing both of my parents. I talk honestly about how hard it can be to navigate grief, especially during tough months like January, and why having community and connection has been so important for me. I reflect on how grief shifts and changes over time, how complicated it can feel, and how much we all need safe spaces to talk about loss. More than anything, I want to encourage you to let yourself feel what you feel and find comfort in shared experiences — because none of us have to do this alone
