What does success really look like?

  • Fear & Anxiety in a Fear-Driven Culture
    Apr 6 2026

We live in a time when fear seems to shape much of the cultural conversation. News alerts, social media, and constant headlines can leave people feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, and anxious about the future.

In this episode of the Faithful & Firm Podcast, Pastor Scott begins the April series “Life Under Pressure” by addressing how followers of Christ can live with peace and confidence in a fear-driven culture. Scripture does not ignore fear or uncertainty, but it repeatedly calls believers to anchor their hearts in the presence and promises of God.

Looking at passages such as Isaiah 41:10, Matthew 6:34, Philippians 4:6–7, Psalm 46:1–2, and 1 Peter 5:7, this episode explores the difference between fear and anxiety and offers practical biblical responses when anxiety begins to rise.

You’ll discover how believers can redirect anxious thoughts toward truth, replace worry with prayer, and rest in the sovereignty of God even when the world around them feels unstable.

Ultimately, the deepest peace comes through the gospel, because through Jesus Christ we have peace with God and a secure hope for the future.

In this episode: • Understanding fear in a modern culture of constant crisis • The biblical difference between fear and anxiety • Three scriptural responses when anxiety rises • Why prayer replaces worry with peace • How the gospel provides lasting confidence and hope

This episode kicks off our April series “Life Under Pressure,” where we’ll continue exploring how to live faithfully when life feels overwhelming.

  • The Cross in a Skeptical Age
    Mar 30 2026

It’s Easter week and in a culture increasingly skeptical of truth, authority, and faith, we’re asking an honest question: What does the cross mean today?

In this episode of the Faithful & Firm Podcast, Pastor Scott explores why the cross has always been controversial, and why it still confronts, humbles, and transforms hearts. From 1 Corinthians 1:18 to Romans 5:8, we’re reminded that the message of the cross isn’t outdated or mythical. It is historical. It is powerful. And it still saves.

    We’ll talk about:

    • How the cross confronts human pride • Why it reveals the seriousness of sin • How it displays the love of God • Why it demands a response

The cross declares that we are more sinful than we realized, and more loved than we ever imagined.

As we move through Easter week, be reminded: Jesus lived the life we couldn’t live, died the death we deserved, and rose again in victory. Salvation is not earned by effort; it is received by faith.

Join us as we close our “Hot Cultural Conversations” series and prepare to launch a new series next week: Life Under Pressure.

In a skeptical age, the cross still stands.
