Max visits Sara, a sixteen-year-old boy, and his mother. Sara cannot walk due to brain damage, and he too was excluded in his village. But thanks to the support he received through Samuel’s organization, his situation has improved dramatically and the future now looks hopeful. He attends school and dreams of becoming an electrician. His mother has even become an activist for the rights of children with disabilities.
Once back in Amsterdam, Max speaks with lecturer Thomas Nys from the University of Amsterdam. There, he learns how the “pond paradox” actually works and why it remains relevant today. He also confronts the central question: how far does our moral obligation to help others extend?
