À propos de ce contenu audio

Welcome to Thinker J! Today I'm sharing the story of a legendary figure who transformed twentieth-century philosophy—Ludwig Wittgenstein.
He was the son of Austria's wealthiest industrialist, from a family richer than the Rockefellers, where Brahms and Mahler regularly performed in the living room. Yet he chose to give away his entire inheritance to his siblings, seeking only pure truth.
During World War One, he wrote philosophical notes in trenches under heavy artillery fire, completing the groundbreaking "Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus." This slim book of barely twenty thousand words proposed the revolutionary idea that "the limits of language are the limits of the world," profoundly influencing the entire twentieth century's intellectual development.
After the war, believing he had solved all philosophical problems, he left academia to teach elementary school in rural Austria. But philosophy's call eventually brought him back to Cambridge, where he developed his new theory of "language games," founding the ordinary language philosophy movement.
From millionaire to battlefield soldier, from schoolteacher to philosophical master, Wittgenstein's life was full of struggle and contradiction, yet he remained authentic, pursuing truth without compromise. His perfectionism bordered on obsession, his thinking was profound and unique, and he demonstrated what it means that "philosophy is an activity."
This episode takes you deep into the legendary life of this analytical philosophy giant, showing how he used language philosophy to change the course of thought, leaving behind eternal wisdom!
