    • South Africa's Avondale Wines: Biodynamics, Sulphites and more!
      Dec 8 2025

What do ducks have to do with wine?? In this episode, we dive into the world of Avondale Wines from South Africa — a pioneering estate known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic farming. We chat about their philosophy, their stunning wines, and why their approach has gained so much admiration.

True to form, we also wander off down a few side paths… including a friendly digression into what biodynamics actually means, how sulphites work in wine, and why these topics spark so much discussion among wine lovers.

Jonathan Grieve visited our wine shop in Dolgellau and took us through the wines so we thought a podcast dedicated to his wines was appropriate! A relaxed, curious, and hopefully helpful conversation that brings a little more clarity (and plenty of enthusiasm) to the glass. Iechyd Da!

    • Meet the Maker - Quim from Martin Freixa Wines

Quim is the owner of Martin Freixa Wines and he loves Dolgellau! Osian and Llinos chat to him about the very special organic Cava from Miquel Pons which Tim Atkin has listed in his top Cavas.

Also, we learn about Quim's own special wines from Rioja and Monsant. It's so hard to get all of the details into 30 minutes because there is so much to learn about these wines.

Croeso! Welcome! It’s the start of our podcast journey, so we’d love to hear what you think! Share your constructive feedback, reviews or ideas for future episodes — we’re learning as we go (with a glass in hand).

Tune in, sip along, and join us as we talk wine, people, and places — one drop at a time.
