  • Quiet hope | Matthew 1:18-25
    Dec 20 2025

    Send us a text

As Christmas approaches, it’s easy to rush ahead to the familiar themes of joy and celebration. But Advent asks us to slow down — to wait, to prepare, and to hope.

In this sermon, we focus on the often-overlooked figure of Joseph, the quiet, righteous man through whom God prepares the way for the Son of David. We’ll reflect on what Advent hope really looks like, and how God keeps his promises, honours the hopeful, and works through ordinary faithfulness to bring salvation.

  • Repent on repeat | Matthew 3:1-12
    Dec 6 2025

This week for the second Sunday in Advent, Phil takes us into the wilderness with John the Baptist and the unsettling but life-giving call to repentance.

We explore what it means to prepare for Christ’s coming—not with fear or self-righteousness, but with a humble, honest, and sincere heart.

Along the way we’ll hear how repentance frees us from presumption, opens us to God’s truth, and leads us into a life that’s not performed for others but shaped quietly by the Spirit.

If you’ve ever wrestled with whether your faith is “real,” or wondered how to keep going when you feel like you’re starting again, this sermon offers hope. Advent doesn’t ask us to prove ourselves—it invites us to make room for the One who comes with grace.

  • Famous last words | 2 Timothy 4:6-22

What does it take to live a good life? Is it possible to live in a way that means we'll look back and say, 'I did everything I was put here to do'? In these final verses of 2 Timothy, Paul seems to have plenty of unfinished business. And yet he also confidently says that he has fought the good fight, kept the faith, and is finishing the race. How is it possible to hold these two things together?

Join us as we explore how to finish well - no matter how far in life we still have to go.

  • Practice makes proficient | 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5
    Nov 22 2025

In cricket, a batter has less than half a second to decide what to do with a 140km/h ball. No time to think. Only muscle memory. Only reflex.

Paul says discipleship often works the same way.

This week we’re in 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5, where Paul reminds Timothy—and us—that Christianity isn’t a set of ideas to nod along with, but an apprenticeship under Jesus. And every apprentice needs practice. Serious practice. The kind of formation that shapes our instincts, our reflexes, our split-second choices.

We’ll look at why Scripture is the Spirit’s tool for training us in righteousness, why we need real mentors and not just digital discipleship, and why every generation tries to reinvent Christianity into something easier, softer, or more comfortable.

Tune in as we explore what that means for your prayer life, your family relationships, and your daily walk with Jesus.
