À propos de ce contenu audio

Choosing Chaos: Solo Motherhood by Choice — the podcast for women who are done waiting for “the one” and ready to become a parent on their own damn terms. We’re talking fertility, pregnancy, the emotional chaos, and the village it takes to raise a kid.

Sometimes you cry in the bathtub. Sometimes you're crying because your toddler bit you. And sometimes, you cry because you chose all of this.

Unfiltered conversations about solo motherhood—because doing it alone doesn't mean doing it quietly.

In this episode of Choosing Chaos, we’re joined by Caroline, owner of Pathfinder Birth Works, for an honest and empowering conversation about the role of a doula in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Caroline shares how doulas provide steady support through one of the most transformative seasons in a woman’s life—offering evidence-based information, emotional reassurance, physical comfort measures, and guidance when it matters most. We talk about what it really means for a mom to advocate for herself, how having the right support in the room can shape the birth experience, and why postpartum care is just as important as the delivery itself.

Whether you’re preparing for your first baby or adding to your family, this episode sheds light on how personalized, continuous support can benefit both mom and baby—and why no one should have to navigate this chapter alone.

  • Jess’s Story: Navigating Egg Freezing, IVF & Immunology
    Feb 23 2026

    Send a text

In this episode of Choosing Chaos, we sit down with Jess to talk about what it really looks like to pursue single motherhood by choice later in life.

Jess froze her eggs in her younger years, believing she was preserving an option for the future. But when she ultimately decided to conceive in her 40s, she learned those eggs were no longer usable — and she had to pivot. What followed were multiple rounds of IVF, each carrying emotional weight, physical demands, and significant financial considerations.

We also explore an important and often overlooked part of the fertility conversation: when transfers fail, it’s not always about the clinic, the protocol, or donor compatibility. Sometimes there are deeper-rooted health factors at play. Jess shares why exploring underlying issues — including reproductive immunology — and advocating for comprehensive testing may help uncover the “why” so many women are searching for.

The journey to motherhood isn’t always straightforward, and freezing your eggs isn’t a guarantee. While it can be helpful, embryo freezing often shows stronger success rates. This conversation is about informed choices, self-advocacy, resilience, and building the family you envision — even when the path isn’t linear.

Jess shares education and support for women considering this path on TikTok at @jessnuremberg.

Michelle joins us to share the story behind her bold pivot to single motherhood by choice. After choosing to leave a relationship impacted by addiction, she found herself redefining the vision she once had for starting a family. Instead of waiting for the “right” circumstances, Michelle leaned into community, trusted her intuition, and decided to move forward on her own terms — turning what could have been a sidestep into a meaningful journey.

We dive into loving someone through addiction, the strength it takes to let go, and the courage to choose the life you truly want. It’s a conversation that’s honest, uplifting, and beautifully human.

Michelle is also the author of Party in a Petri Dish, a heart-warming children’s book in which Bailey explains how Mommy wanted a baby so much she took a leap of science and love to make it happen — celebrating the beauty of unique family stories along the way.
