Welcome to Day 51 of Word for Word: The Bible.

In this episode, we continue our journey through Deuteronomy with a complete, word-for-word reading of Deuteronomy chapters 10–12. As Israel stands on the edge of the Promised Land, Moses calls the people beyond outward religion to wholehearted covenant faithfulness. The question before them is clear: will they choose convenience, or covenant?

Today’s reading includes:

  • The rewriting of the stone tablets and the renewal of the covenant
  • The setting apart of the Levites to minister before the LORD
  • The call to fear the LORD, walk in His ways, and love Him with all heart and soul
  • The command to “circumcise your hearts” and abandon stubbornness
  • God’s justice and compassion for the fatherless, widow, and foreigner
  • The promise of blessing for obedience and warning of curse for disobedience
  • Instructions to teach God’s Word diligently to the next generation
  • The command to worship only at the place the LORD will choose
  • A strong warning not to imitate the worship practices of surrounding nations
  • The final charge: do not add to or take away from what God has commanded

These chapters remind us that devotion to God is not merely external. He calls for hearts that are yielded, lives shaped by His Word, and worship that reflects His holiness. As Israel prepares to cross the Jordan, they are shown that the path of blessing is simple, though not easy: love the LORD, obey Him, and walk in His ways day by day.

Each episode of Word for Word: The Bible includes:

  • A brief introduction to provide context
  • A full, unabridged reading of the Scripture passage
  • A closing prayer to reflect on what we have read
