On today's show I got the opportunity to sit with Dr. Tamarah Davis, a dean at a Charter school in Boston. We got to sit down and talk a bit about her dissertation about Teacher Self Care, you can find a link to her paper below. We spoke more about her time at Hampton University, the rise in education expectations being a first generation in her family to attend college. I thought about that too and wanted to get a chance to sit down with a music educator in the Boston Private school system. I've had a chance to work in the same classroom as Mr. O and really enjoyed how he was able to incorporate and introduce these students to oldies and goodies from a range of plays and pop culture hits. On today's episode I was lucky enough to sit down with Adam Roscoe a Disaster Recovery Specialist and learn about the way that VALs, municipalities and federal government help people and businesses get back to a "new normal" following disasters. Adam let me know about skills and ways of thinking that fit well in this position as well as telling me about what it's like helping out a community and the details in what is expected of you when doing this work.
