🎙️ Chambers, Changes & Conversations – Sports, Leisure & Community Life

Parks, libraries, fields, pools — they may feel like everyday amenities, but in a growing county like Manatee, they are essential infrastructure for connection, wellness, and quality of life.

In this episode of Chambers, Changes & Conversations, we sit down with the leadership behind Manatee County’s Sports & Leisure Department to talk about how these spaces serve far more than recreation — they serve people.

We explore why parks and libraries aren’t just “nice-to-haves,” but critical public services that support physical health, mental wellness, lifelong learning, and community connection. From youth sports leagues to quiet library corners, these spaces shape daily life in ways residents may not always see.

We spotlight some of the County’s most impactful projects, including the legacy of G.T. Bray Park, the renovations and pool expansion at John Marble Park, and the unique design and purpose behind Hidden Harbor Park. We also look ahead to the future Athletics and Aquatics Center at Premier Sports Campus and what that investment means for residents and regional sports tourism alike.

And of course, we talk about one of the most exciting recent milestones — the County’s purchase of Mixon Fruit Farms — and how Sports & Leisure will help shape its next chapter as a community-focused destination.

Beyond the projects, this episode is about partnerships — with youth and adult leagues, families, athletes, and readers — and how those relationships maximize every field, facility, and library branch for the people of Manatee County.

It’s a conversation about growth, momentum, and why the places we gather matter more than ever.

🎧 Listen now and discover how Sports & Leisure helps build community — one park, one program, and one pickup game at a time.
