Sometime ago, over 2years actually, filmmaker @antchen took the time to sit down with me to discuss his film newest feature at the time THE BREAKING ICE 燃冬. In the film three, strangers are brough together by chance in northern China, where they form a life changing bond through loneliness and curiosity, to challenge each other and themselves to not be afraid of the unknown.

#TheBreakingIce stars Zhou Dongyu, Liu Haoran, Qu Chuxiao, and was produced by Anthony's company @giraffe.pictures.

*This interview was originally recorded at TIFF 2023, but wasn't published due to the file being lost, and I purely by chance I found it again and wanted to publish it as my first #CarolynTalks interview for 2026. With everything going on in the world, I thought it would be appropriate with the film's themes of loneliness, connection, and looking forward to new positive futures.
