À propos de ce contenu audio

The USCIS has updated its guidelines for F/M nonimmigrant students, particularly focusing on optional practical training (OPT) extensions for STEM fields. The updated policy manual clarifies several key points:

  • Online Classes: Students can count one class or three credits towards a full course of study if they take it online.
  • School Transfers: Students can transfer between schools at the same level or move between educational levels.
  • Grace Period: During the 60-day grace period after OPT, students can change their education level, transfer, or apply for a new status.
  • OPT Eligibility: Students can be eligible for post-completion OPT after completing an associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree.
  • STEM OPT Extensions: The policy corrects the application period for STEM OPT extensions.
  • Study Abroad: Students can remain active in SEVP during study abroad programs lasting less than five months.

These changes are effective immediately and apply to pending or future requests.
