      Aug 26 2024

Tish connects with Sgt. Cody Bates, US Army Veteran to talk about his motivation to serve, three deployments and the importance of brain donation. While deployed, Cody sustained numerous injuries due to IEDs and mortar rounds which resulted in TBIs. The repercussions of head trauma can lead to multiple symptoms and challenging health issues such as depression, damage to the pituitary gland, neurological disorders and more. These health issues make it even more important to pre-register for brain donation to help others who may be struggling with head trauma symptoms and disorders.

    • Susan Waddingham ~ Semper Fi & America's Fund on Brain Donation
      Aug 26 2024

The importance of talking to your loved ones about your wishes prior to passing is often a tough conversation but a necessary one.

Tish is joined today by Suzanne Waddingham, a registered nurse with the Semper Fi & America's Fund Visiting Nurse Program, to discuss brain donation. Suzanne works with service members and their long term medical case management to help them to navigate the medical systems they're dealing with and reduce the barriers to care. As part of that care Suzanne talks about continuing the mission of serving through brain donation to help with research for those struggling with TBI and head injuries.
