Traditional banking has long been the norm for managing personal finances, but for underserved communities, these financial institutions have often been a source of hardship rather than assistance. From high fees and predatory lending practices to a lack of access to banking services, traditional banking has had a negative impact on many low-income and marginalized communities. Starling Bank is a UK-based digital bank that offers personal and business banking services such as current accounts, savings accounts, mortgages, and business loans. Founded in 2014, it operates primarily through a mobile app and has a commitment to sustainable finance. The bank's mission is to provide fair, transparent, and accessible banking services to its customers.  Journals is a place where I share my perspective on the impact of Sustainable Finance in places where outcomes are poor and cost of failure high.
