On this day in 2002, the world shifted — a new energy entered the Earth. My son, Zion Grant, was born. Today, he turns 23 years old.

This episode is a deeply personal tribute — not just to my son, but to the journey of fatherhood, faith, and fulfillment. From the moment we named him after the Holy City, I knew he would carry light. And he has. Zion, you’ve been the “adult double digits” since 20, and every year since has only magnified your purpose.

Through life’s many trials and triumphs, we’ve stood strong. I’ve watched promises come to life in you. I’m grateful beyond words to be your father.

October 1, 1963.. 60 years ago the Angel, Brendalyn "BG" Grant was sent our family and this planet with such a special package. Her package was the Gift of Love and everywhere she traveled, others received it in abundance. In 2007, this Earthly Angel was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and she handled the disease with such grace as she smiled in the face of the unknown and fought til the very end. Though many believe that a cancer diagnoses is a death sentence.. Brendalyn left behind a playbook of how to beat such an ugly monster. This cancer attempts to steal the dignity and self worth that God gives at birth, not to mention some more important attributes; like femininity and confidence. Cancer did not stand a chance, as history has been recorded while cataloging this battle.

My dear sister led with love and received much in return, She was my Sister, my best friend, my 2nd Mother, and so much more. She was a wonderful Mother.. a loving daughter, a kind friend to all.. and an agent of Peace.. SHE IS STILL IS A BEACON OF LIGHT!! She believed in God, Womanhood, Love and securing the future for the our youth.
