  • Witch Way from Here? The Argonautica of Apollonius, Part IX (Ad Navseam, Episode 232)
    Nov 3 2026

Jason again? Enter blandman? No, it's time for Medea. At long last, the epic starts to heat up. Sure, along the way we have enjoyed the poet's brilliant descriptions of the sailing journey, Athena's unexpected aid, the encounter with the harpies, the boxing, and much more. But let's be honest: Jason has not done much to inspire admiration or imitation. Now comes the brilliant woman from Colchis with her magical Promethean herb, in a cart drawn by mules, and meeting our hero for a midnight rendezvous at the shrine of Hecate. Could it get any weirder? Tune in for this and much more as Jeff and Dave start to cruise toward the end of the the epic. And, listen in for the code word to enter the drawing to win a Ratio 4. The guys also offer a new coupon code, TANG, for 10% off site merch. Show people that you're taking in the Classics, and keeping them down.

  • Give Fleece a Chance: The Argonautica of Apollonius, Part VIII (Ad Navseam, Episode 231)
    Oct 26 2026

Not to be slowed down by technical difficulties, Jeff and Dave return to the mics this week to advance Jason's storyline with his hearty crew of shipmates aboard the Argo. At long last, the towering, terrifying figure of Medea appears on the epic stage. Running around the palace of her father, King Aeetes, talking to her sister Chalciope, suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous Eros, combing her hair and listening to Air Supply, and generally chewing the scenery, Medea dominates the action as soon as she shows up. Why does Apollonius draw her this way, in such sharp contrast to the milquetoast Jason? Is this good for dramatic purposes or just plain subpar storytelling? Tune in to get these and other questions answered. Also, don't miss the chance to enter the drawing for another premium coffee machine, the sleek and agile Ratio 4. Listen for the secret code word, and check out the new website: adnavseam.com.

  • The Judgment of Jason: The Argonautica of Apollonius, Part VII (Ad Navseam, Episode 230)
    Oct 6 2026

Coming soon to a harbor near you: Jason, lackluster love hero, the one-sandaled man, Eagle Scout who schlepped Hera across a raging river, forever in the shadow of Heracles. But this time, as Argonautica Book 3 opens Jason is ready to finally get that golden fleece, get back to Colchis, and set things right with his wicked uncle Pelias. Athena wants to help him, and so does Hera. But Moe and Larry need a Curly: enter Aphrodite, staring oddly at the door and combing her golden locks. Can the three goddesses together work some magic on Medea, powerful daughter of the man who holds sway over that fleece, King Aeetes? If not, Jason has no chance of making off with the wool. Can Jeff and Dave actually talk about the titular epic for at least part of this episode, or will they instead constantly veer back toward the Odyssey and Ovid? All your questions will be answered (or at least obliquely glanced upon) during this week's nautical junket. Ahoy, maties.
