Description
What tangled webs we weave . . .
He's everything I don't want. A playboy. A beast with a cunningly gorgeous smile. Faces like his only mean one thing. Somewhere underneath all of that handsomeness, there lies a monster.
And if anyone can sense a monster, it's me.
I understand cruelty. I've lived and breathed it my entire life. I existed on the "charity" of others until I realized that it wouldn't be enough. My demons would soon be set free. They were coming back for me and to be ready for them—to be ready for him—I needed to make myself invincible.
But it's not enough. If I'm going to survive, then I need to make an alliance with a monster of my own: Abel Frazier.
Contains mature themes.

A lot, but a solid story
Still intense as expected and a different turn than the others with the same roller coaster. It was predictable but I liked learning about Rylie and Able. I still struggled with the female performer anytime she was in any voice except Rylie’s head voice. The male performer is solid.

More on Abel and Rylie
I wish it were more than one book for Abel, but I can't wait for the next book

Ruined by Narration
I really enjoyed the first three books in the series, but I won't be finishing it. This book was ruined by the narration. The female narrator makes the male characters sound like an overweight, middle-aged, balding man trying to lure kids in the park over to his white panel van. Every. single. scene. is read in what I can only determine the narrator thinks is a seductive voice, but it only sounds sleezy and cringeworthy. If you want to continue this series, I would recommend reading rather than listening. I almost never remove stars from my overall ratings due to narration, but I have to when the narration completely ruins the book.
As for the story, I enjoyed the first three in the series more, probably because the story of Avalon & Dean developed more slowly. This one seemed more rushed and less developed. However, it was still good.
