Exactly what I was looking for in a meditation

What made the experience of listening to Vipassana Meditation: Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners with Guided Imagery and Mindfulness Training the most enjoyable?

This was not only an enjoyable meditation, but an educational one. From the breathing technique to the guided imagery - I felt like the instructor was right there with me during the meditation session. It was calming, serene and very easy to follow.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the techniques taught in this meditation. I never came across them before in other places, but this is my first time trying Vipassana.

What does Lloyd Rosentall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Loved the narrator's voice and how calm he sounded. The narration was light-spirited but calm and educational at the same time. I found the voice soothing.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Well, the entire meditation was my favorite. I did leave the music on afterwards to keep me feeling peaceful, but I had gotten up by then to do chores. Still, I listened through my earphones and found it kept my calm mood going, which was very nice. I'm not normally a morning person and it takes a lot to get me in a good mood before my coffee. This meditation helped me feel peaceful before breakfast and before the sun rose.

Any additional comments?

It was a welcome experience. I liked the feelings it gave me and how it cleared my mind. Well done.

excellent vipassana meditation

This is a great introductory meditation for vipassana. Loved the guided imagery and the easy instructions. The narration is smooth and easy on the ears. The music is equally as smooth and relaxes you while you meditate. Great production.

Nice, but not Vipassana

I like the narration and I think the opening is quite nice when guiding through mindfulness. It feels off though, and with good reason, this isn't Vipassana. This is more like Hollywood / American spirituality. The new age music in the background somewhat foretells what you're going to get. Even with that though I was surprised at the guidance to manifest our dreams and desires. So contrary to the Buddhist path (the source of Vipassana.)

Had this been sold without the word "Vipassana" in the title, I'd give it 5 stars... as a nice mindfulness / modern take on meditation. I can just see some listener bragging to his friends, "so i do this like uh amazing vipassana meditation dude... and like uh... i manifested a new car and a 4K tv man. so awesome." That isn't Vipassana.

If you want to study Vipassana, Thrangu Rinpoche is a great starting point. I'm not hostile to manifestation (to a degree), but to wrap it up in religious classification that is entirely hostile to materialism ... it just feels wrong. Call it what it is... "A modern approach to mindfulness."

Almost all of this tape is music. I expected more information. It is very disappointing.

Would you listen to Vipassana Meditation: Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners with Guided Imagery and Mindfulness Training again? Why?

I've been through the 10 day training years ago... this is a great refresher to get back in the mode of one hour meditation.
