Description
Many tales of horror about German occupation have been told through the ages. Some stories are well-known, the history books and television programs documenting them in wretched detail; others are more obscure: the painful separation of families as they attempted to escape an inevitable future, children snatched at a tender age and hidden, everyone wary and vigilant - and afraid. Those years were heavy and their victims mostly silent.

Good reading
I was captivated by her voice while listening to this book. I can feel the mixed emotions the author has and it makes me emotional. This book is way better than other Memoir books I have read before.
The best so far!

Uncounted Victim
It's hard to find a book like this nowadays. T'was a unique story and was read by compassion. This is also the saddest historical book I've known so far. I almost cried when the families were separated because of that tragic past. Too much nostalgia I gained from this book.

A wonderful and deeply personal story...
A deeply personal semi-autobiographical story about what it's like to live as a refugee and escape racial oppression. Yet oppression not only originates from political despots, but also from those who we thought we loved. The author lays bare some of her most personal secrets - having suffered through trevails of love and mistaken allegiances while seeking peace liberation. Never a dull moment, a fascinating story of a warm and innocent woman and mother being tossed and crossed by forces over which she has little control. And yet she maintains an appreciation for beauty, love and hope.
The author narrates with a sense of poise - a pleasant warm tonality reminiscent of Meryl Streep's narrative parts in Out of Africa,

Tear jerking & heart warming
I enjoyed listening to the audio version of this book. A real raw authentic book that could make you feel emotional and cry for the tragic experienced the character had. It made me cry at points when it felt it talking to my heart.
