The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

According to mythology, mankind used to live in 'The Tranquiline Halls': heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Led by 10 angelic Heralds and 10 orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won (or so the legends say).

I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

Sandra had been a merchant traveling through the human lands of Muriel, though that wouldn’t have been her chosen profession. What she would’ve loved to become was a crafter, producing wondrous creations with her own two hands. Unfortunately, Sandra was born with a deformity in her hands that made them appear frozen in a claw-like pose; as a result, she couldn’t grip anything with any sort of strength or dexterity, meaning that she wasn’t able craft anything but the most simple of things that required very little in the way of hand-based manipulation.

Amazing second addition into The Wandering Inn
I've been reading this story for years now and was only just told it was out in Audio book form as well I had to have it. Downloaded book one and loved the narrator's voices and acting, so I just had to get V2 and start tearing through it as soon as I could. 100% worth the price or your Audible token!

Ugh, politics.
Yeah, current political commentary is not what I want in a fantasy novel. The author's not even coy about it. Like who was asking for this?

60+ hours just flew bye!
I loved basically everything about this book! The side stories were awesome, the characters are beautifully and consistently flawed, the arcs are exciting, the world is delightfully complex, and the narration is superb. Normally with a book nearly this long, I would have to stop in the middle and listen to something else for a while, but not with this one.
My one complaint might be that the cyclical storytelling from multiple perspectives was a little confusing at times because the time spans of the perspectives can be wildly varied. For example, a secret can be revealed to one character from another character's perspective, and then we switch to that character's perspective and start long before that point and may not even reach that point. It got a little confusing, but I think that is the nature of the issue and a bit unavoidable. I loved having all the different perspectives of the same situations because they add a lot a nuance and humor to the stories.

Please leave politics out of the fantasy genre.
It would be nice if I could listen to a fantasy off world novel and not have to get Presidential politics from the United States thrown in my face.
Spoiler alert that has nothing to do with the story: Early in the book the author brings together a group of people that have been whisked away from Earth into this new land. When they realize that there is some time distortion between the two planets, in order to ground everyone on what has happened just before each person has left Earth, one of the travelers says that “Trump just instituted the Muslim ban”. Executive order 13780 instituted a travel ban for individuals from 6 specific countries. Those countries were Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. According to the Pew Research Center in 2010 there were 50 Muslim-majority countries. That leaves 43 countries that Muslims could have been coming from to get into the United States. If you hate Trump, you could at least be accurate in your bashing from the long distance of the land of Dragons and magic. How about his hair…. Or maybe, just maybe, you could give us all a break and let us be engrossed in a land of Dragons and magic and leave out the politics from the United States of America. 4.25% of the world population lives in the United States. There are more people in countries other than the States and the rest of us don’t care who your president is.

Very disappointing
I really wanted to like this book, and overall I think I do like the story except for a couple of parts. What was pirate Abba thanking putting in inter-species six and real world politics in your books do you know that you just offended half of your base. Do you have the right to your opinion and your beliefs but if you but if you’re going to put real world politics in your books don’t let anybody know which side you lean to because most of us conservatives are going to stop reading your stuff. Is some of the ideals that your characters have in the books are completely in utterly ridiculous. Do you can do a lot better than what you have been doing with these books please strive to do so in the future keep real world politics out of fantasy seriously it’s not cool. Your characters have some really dumb theories and ideals especially your main character Aaron she has got to be blonde I have never ever in my whole life I hated a main character as much as yours even a few of your side characters piss me off sometimes because they act like little kids who have no experience in the world and I’ve never been through anything or done anything because they’re completely clueless to how the world works real or fake and they do not have any kind of concept of true right and wrong. Your theories are good as theories but as far as real world their ideals or just that ideals and have no basis in reality they are not feasible at all. Change those few things when you have a great book on your hands.

Another Master Piece of Joy :3.
Well,
lets start with the obvious.
Perfect Voice Actor.
Good Story that overlaps with multiple side character storys.
Not too much plot armor, but Eren and Ryhoka have it still thick.
Laughed, cryed and was suprised on more then one occation how the plot went on.
The only minus points were:
- I laughed way to hard on that interlude with the three woman at a restaurant, doing girls talk. People looked weirdly at me in the tram.
- I kinda hate the "Victim Troupe to become stronger" stuff. I won't spoil it, but around 4 hours where pretty much a setup. For Ryhoka to get her act together, while lots of people she liked died. Same as the last book. xD She seems to be the asshole with the social problems, that you just wanna smack on the head really hard. But at a few times, shes a good character.
Generally i would have loved less interludes of non related people to the mc. The clown one was a bit too forced and didn't really give anything new to us. Outside of that.
... i still don't get the american age stuff.
Eren is 21 but behaves like a 12 year old and is viewed like a 12 year old at alot of times.
That one "girl" everyon says is a kid, is actually 18 years old.
And somehow Ryohka is the oldest, but sounds like a cranky teenager most of the time. xD
*shrugs*
Its not a negative point. But it's weird for someone from europa. Well i guess i compare people to much to myself, when i was 16 ~18 ...
Now its waiting for Book 3 ... while multiple cliffhangers are in place.
Damm Death Gods... i need a time skipping device.

Can’t wait for the sequel!
It is a brilliantly written and beautifully performed audio-book. The character-development is really nicely done and it took me just over a week to listen to the whole book.
Spoiler alert: I would have hoped for a more climatic ending - this cliffhanger will be a hard (hopefully not to long) waiting period for book 3!

A worthy follow-up of the first book. Andrea Parsneau is awesome in giving each of the major characters an individual voice.

This little beauty is 60 hours long. You can literally listen to this for two hours a day and it would still need a month to complete. I'm 12 hours in by now and it has so far been a good time. I'm looking forward to the rest. And it still amazes me just how much of a story there is for the price.
