Lily and her brother, Tom, thought they were on a normal family sailing trip... until a mysterious, milky-white fog swallows their boat. They wash ashore on an island unlike any they’ve ever seen. The sun is stuck in the sky. The waves are frozen in place. Birds hang motionless in the air, and a game of tag in the village square has been frozen for years Even their parents are trapped, as still and silent as statues. The only person who can move is Elian, a boy who’s been waiting for his twelfth birthday party to start for longer than he can remember. He shows them the terrifying truth: a creeping “Shadow That Didn't Move” is slowly eating the island, turning its bright colors to grey dust.
The island’s magic is failing because the great Clocktower, and its glowing Crystal Heart is broken. To save their parents and this magical world, Lily and Tom must race against no-time. They must find the three lost pieces of the Crystal Heart, hidden in a rusting robot, a frozen waterfall, and an hourglass where sand falls up. But can they restart time before the creeping Shadow un-makes the island, and everyone on it, forever?
