Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches. In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. Her quest for knowledge transformed her.

On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

This landmark book, first published in 1978, remains one of the most influential books in the Social Sciences, particularly Ethnic Studies and Postcolonialism. Said is best known for describing and critiquing "Orientalism", which he perceived as a constellation of false assumptions underlying Western attitudes toward the East. In Orientalism Said claimed a "subtle and persistent Eurocentric prejudice against Arabo-Islamic peoples and their culture."

A touching story and an equally touching narration
The book has successfully given life to many characters, each of which had their own beliefs and opinions.
The narrator did a great job embodying the different characters and distinguishing between them.
The only reason I didn't rate it as a 5 star book was because of the gloominess that surrounded the final chapters.

Surprising, captivating, and thought provoking.
I thought this was going to be another trendy Middle Eastern romantic story. It came recommended by people who's views I admired, so I read it. It ended up redefining many skewed meanings I had in my mind about the religious and (or should I say v.s) spiritual areas of life. Will probably read it again at another point in time. Highly recommended if you're a 'truth seeker'. George Blagden's narration was mesmerising!

A true eye opener
I was quite perplexed wether to buy this, thinking it might be anther generic love novel. How wrong was I - this book is a true eye opener, it is about love; but a very philosophical approach to it. The story was excellent & one can definitely improve oneself by listening to this novel. Amazing.

My first Audible experience
This book was recommended to me by my friend who also suggested signing up for audible.
The Forty Rules of Love is the first book I have read by Elif Shafak. It’s a beautiful story about love, kindness and friendship. I particularly enjoyed Shafak’s descriptions of whatever there was in this book. Moreover, different colours of the voice of the narrator added this extra factor to the entire experience. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Absolutely wonderful
First of all, the reader of this book is the best I ever listed to. Not just emotions are brought out so beautifully, but he created this signature voice for everyone in the book. The story itself, and I am a sucker for a really good love story, brings us two love stories that are so dear to my heart now. A must read /listen.
