An amazing discovery
I discovered the Harry Bosch series with this audiobook. I had never watched the TV series and was unfamiliar with Titus Welliver. However, his voice is a perfect fit for the Harry Bosch character. As a non-native English speaker, I was initially hesitant about this book, but it captured my attention almost instantly. It felt like watching a movie. The Harry Bosch universe is incredibly immersive, and this first story, by merging the detective’s backstory with the investigation, adds significant depth and dimension to the narrative. It took me only three days to finish the entire book. Having become familiar with Welliver’s voice, I’m concerned it might be challenging for me to adjust to a different narrator for the second book. After the epilogue, there’s an interview between Titus Welliver and Michael Connelly, which I don’t think you should listen to. Firstly, it peels back the curtain on the book’s magic, and furthermore, they begin to reveal spoilers about Harry Bosch after just five minutes. So, if you’re new to the Harry Bosch series like I was, I’d recommend stopping right after the epilogue and skipping the last 30 minutes. I strongly suggest this book to all. Dive into “The Black Echo Investigation” for an unforgettable experience.
