"What would it be like to see all as one?" Alan Watts asks. "We hear about attaining great states of consciousness. But the only way to have a real transformation is to stop thinking about it - and simply experience it." From the 1950s to the 1970s, this seminal teacher sparked the West's love for Eastern wisdom. Now, in these rare recorded gems, he inspires a new generation of inner explorers seeking deeper insights into meditation - its myriad forms, how they work, and what happens when we practice them.

Alan W. Watts' "message for an age of anxiety" is as powerful today as it was when this modern classic was first published. We spend too much time trying to anticipate and plan for the future, too much time lamenting the past. We often miss the pleasures of the moment in our anxious efforts to ensure the next moment is as enjoyable. Drawing from Eastern philosophy and religion, Watts argues that it is only by acknowledging what we do not and cannot know that we can find something truly worth knowing.

Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

Popular blogger Cal Newport reveals the new key to achieving success and true meaning in professional life: the ability to master distraction. Many modern knowledge workers now spend most of their brain power battling distraction and interruption, whether because of the incessant pinging of devices, noisy open-plan offices or the difficulty of deciding what deserves their attention the most. When Cal Newport coined the term deep work on his popular blog, Study Hacks, in 2012, he found the concept quickly hit a nerve.

Hearing Alan Watts has been a wonderful, mind blowing, challenging spiritual experience. This is better than a book since you can hear him speak and laugh. I’ve listened to it 3 times already. I do not get tired of it. But you have to be ready to challenge yourself, your beliefs and your thinking. Enjoy!

Cause if you let your breath go... it'll come back
These lectures are great for anyone with an open mind, from the merely curious to those seeking satori. A self proclaimed "spiritual entertainer," Alan Watts takes various concepts from eastern religions and translates them for a western audience, providing both entertainment and insight along the way. If you ever need a new perspective on the human condition try giving Alan Watts a listen.
This man passed over a decade before I was born, but his voice gives me comfort and his words bring me peace. He's helped me through some tough times, and I return to his lectures, or his writings, from time to time when I need a refresher.
"So, translated into colloquial American, nirvana is 'whew.' 'Cause if you let your breath go... it'll come back."

A must for fans Alan Watts
Fourteen hours of wisdom from the legendary Alan Watts. I own all of the other lecture series by Watts that are available on Audible and I did not hear any repeated material from those. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, the sound quality is excellent given the age of some of the recordings. This is a great introduction to Zen and Eastern philosophy in general. I can't recommend this highly enough, if you are a fan or just getting into this wonderful, entertaining philosopher you will not be disappointed!

Be careful before buying
If you could sum up Out of Your Mind in three words, what would they be?
Great but watchout
Any additional comments?
Be careful when buying this audio book or any audio book being packaged with Alan Watts lectures because it seems they fill these audiobooks with the same lectures so if you buy two different books you might actually be buying the same thing twice. Unfortunately there is no way to figure this out ahead of time

Some Good Stuff Mixed in the Filler.
I would like the listen to the condensed version. There are about two hours of good stuff in the whole thing. The Asian accents and ignorantly sexist comments were cringeworthy. But, mixed in there, were some truly profound moments that acted as random intermittent reinforcements to keep me listening to the end. Probably mostly of interest to established fans.

A phenomenal set of lectures by the late, Alan Watts. He is not only teaching one to look at him or herself, and the world in a different light, but is also very entertaining and amusing at the same time. What he says is as important now, if not more so, than it was when these recordings were made. Highly recommended for anyone who has enjoyed he likes of thich naht Hahn or Eckhart Tolle.
