Description

Still recovering from his near fatal wounds suffered at the Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant, Delta Force Commander, Major Kolt "Racer" Raynor, is thrust into a new battle with some of the toughest killers he's ever faced - US Navy SEALs. Government austerity measures have the Joint Chiefs of Staff contemplating the unthinkable - combining Delta Force and the SEALs into a single unit: One Killer Force. In this installment of Dalton Fury's Delta Force series, Kolt's career is in jeopardy and worst of all, the final say rests in the hands of men who have reasons to want to see Kolt gone.

Recovered from her own wounds, Cindy "Hawk" Bird is closing in on becoming the first official female operator in the history of the US military.... She only has to survive an insertion into the most repressive regime on earth.

Meanwhile, a new terrorist threat looms on the horizon in the form of not one, but possibly two mushroom clouds. Kolt earns his call sign as the action has him racing to the world's hottest combat zones from Syria to Ukraine on hunter-killer missions to eliminate the terrorists before they can enact their deadly mission.

Half a world away, a spy deep in the secretive North Korean regime sends a desperate call for help. A new danger to world peace and security is growing in the heart of the increasingly unstable Communist country and no amount of sanctions or political negotiations are going to stop it. Violently applied force is needed, and needed now before it's too late.

Dalton Fury scores again!

After only four novels Dalton Fury has firmly established himself as a true master of the thriller genre.

One Killer Force is the fourth book in the Delta Force series. Like the three prior books in the series it is superb; it is a must read for those of us who love thrillers. The series continues to focus on Major Kolt "Racer" Raynor who is a Delta Force veteran in his 40's. All of the old characters are back with Cindy "Hawk" Bird leading the way as she continues her efforts to become the first special forces female member. There is lots of action and suspense.

The narration is great.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Dalton Fury is Real

Right at the top of my list which includes Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Marc Cameron and many others. As a retired Army officer, the attention to details is unbelievable.

Too long and not that interesting

Since Black Site, these books are regretfully getting slower, with excessive descriptions and less interesting.

One Furious Reader

I thoroughly enjoy Dalton Fury's first two "Racer" series—they're absolutely superb. One Killer Force, however, is absolutely terrible. Therefore, I feel compelled to write this review, albeit with a heavy heart, in order to inform other fans not to waste their time, money, or credit on this book.

One Killer Force was not written by Dalton Fury. No experienced author, especially one of Fury's caliber, would release such a poorly written book to the public. It reads as a novice writer's first or second unedited draft. NCIS wouldn't find any semblance of evidence authenticating Dalton Fury as the same author of Black Site (phenomenal!) and One Killer Force (abominable!).

I was so disappointed by such an incredulous lack of coherency and elementary dialogue. Theme after theme would be introduced and entirely dismissed shortly thereafter without any semblance of resolution... Repeat 96 times, and voila, you just wasted a weekend reading or listening to One Killer Force. In good conscious, any respectable publishing company would never have released this book to the public, especially if they were aware of Fury's previous extremely well written novels.

Surprisingly, Ari Fliakos, was able to handle the unbearable role of reading this book rather well. I'd give his contribution a 4-star rating, however, the entire book review would then be submitted as a 4-star rating per Audible's protocol.

Good job, Ari. Get it together next time, Dalton.

Rushed

Although the military detail was present, the story seemed rushed to meet a publishing deadline.

I had a hard time getting through this one

I had a really difficult time finishing this one - months actually. Unlike the author's previous work, this one was just plain boring and I found myself either zoning out contributing the book to background noise or rewinding tho repeat whatever I missed because I had zone out. I need the author to get passed the stupid misogyny and back to the action of his previous books. . .

Was looking forward to this book

I really enjoyed the first 3 books in this series but have been disappointed with this one. I'm not sure I can fully explain without giving the plot away - but I can say the story and plot isn't nearly as strong or interesting as the prior books. Also - on an interesting note - I listen to this book on my iPhone while plugged into a speaker in my garage. Whenever Ari Fliakos (the reader) says "Syrian" in part of any sentence, my iPhone interprets this as my attempt to ask the iOS Siri function a question and I've been getting all kinds of interesting responses - based on whatever is being addressed in that sentence. Pretty funny, actually.

Great action sequences but a frustrating book

Firstly great action sequences throughout this book, the author is a action sequence master in my opinion.

However after this and book 3, I am so frustrated by the other aspects of the book I don't think I will purchase another Dalton Fury book.

The author time and time again starts a story thread and then appears to get board and it disappears with little or no explanation. The absurdity of most of the action scenarios is also very frustrating.

Also frustrating is the times were Colt is arguing forcefully to do a mission and then soon after is arguing against it.

If you just like to listen to compelling action sequences and don't think too much about the story this book is a total firecracker.

All over the place

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The narration from the author sounds awfully arrogant and irritating.

Would you ever listen to anything by Dalton Fury again?

Not sure

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ari Fliakos?

George Guidall

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Delta action stuff is pretty good. And the author describes the various guns like they were his siblings.

Any additional comments?

The plot goes all over the place and you can't hold onto a coherent story line. The novel does not get into stride until the last 40 minutes - but the author just completely forgets to tie up loose ends and leaves a lot of sub plots unfinished.

Phenomenal Series! Highly Recommend!

RIP Dalton Fury. Mainly because he was a great American Warrior. Also this was a phenomenal series that rivaled some of the best authors out there. Every new title was better than the last and you could tell he was honing his skills as a writer to one day become one of the best in this type of book. Love this series but more than anything sad to see a great American Warrior taken from us too soon.
