    Description

Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these 81 verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good.

In this program, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has reviewed hundreds of translations of the Tao Te Ching and has created 81 distinct essays on how to apply the ancient wisdom of Lao-tzu to today's modern world. This work contains the entire 81 verses of the Tao, compiled from Wayne's researching of 10 of the most well-respected translations of text that have survived for more than 25 centuries. As Wayne says, "This is an audiobook that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you'll live in a new world aligned with nature. I'm so proud to present this interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, and offer the same opportunity for change that it has brought me."

    Less is more

I have been a fan of Wayne Dyer for many years and own several of his books. This book I do NOT recommend. The Tao Te Ching is a beautiful spiritual book and in Dr. Dyer's interpretation the beauty and essence is lost. Less is more Dr. Dyer. If you want to listen to a pure and inspiring version of the Tao, I highly recommend Steven Mitchell's book. The title is "Tao Te Ching: A New English Version". When I listen and reflect on Steven Mitchell's version I feel a lump in my throat as I do when I hear any pure wisdom. This is a gauge for me that what I am listening to is connecting with my higher self. When I listen to Wayne Dyer's version, I feel my mind becoming cluttered and confused. I hope this book does not spoil the Tao for those who are hearing it for the first time. Don't stop here. This is not the purest form of interpretation. Seek out the Tao in other interpretations and when you connect you will know and when you know you will be enriched with its essence. Only then will you BE one with the Tao.

    Changed my thoughts

This book did change my thoughts and my life in one simple sentence Dyer wrote: "Relax, let go, and allow." So simple, yet those words affected my life in a profoundly positive way. I need to keep rereading this book (or listen to the audio), but every time I do, I find my thoughts changing. I feel less self-hatred and less anger. That is worth ten times the price of the book.

    Awesome!

This book is a great way to get to know the Dao De Jing or tao te ching, however it's spelled. I have listened to several of Dr. Dyer's works, and I think that this is up there with the best. It's a great real world explanation of the Dao for folks that are looking for a little different perspective on life. I think he does a good job of bringing the "Eastern" philosophy to the "Western" mind. Some of his suggestions may seem a bit pollyanna, but that is his nature.

    for life

This is a great book for a happy peaceful life. Wayne Dyer makes the Tao te Ching come to life for today. Everyone who has listened to it with me has become enlightened and found more peace and contentment in their lives. I love to listen on my way to work . It has helped make the more difficult days go smooth and peaceful. Wayne Dyer has a way of speaking or writing to make you feel he is a close friend and mentor. Close, friendly and down to earth wisdom awaits anyone who will listen. Dr.Dyer Quotes in this book "When the student is ready the teacher will come." Wayne Dyer has been my teacher. Yes I use it daily.

    Good reminder

This book continues the thoughtful work of Dyer. In this text he reads and then comments upon the work of Tau Te Ching, "The Great Way". It is helpful that he reads a passage and relates the reading to everyday life and thinking. At the end of each section Dyer offers concrete ways to practice what has been taught. The book is well read, but the listener will benefit most if (s)he listens away from distraction. Dyer is helpful to those who agree with him and those who do not. There is just good insight here.

First Wayne Dyer bad audio for me

I wish I could write a good review on this audibook, but instead I am forced (for the first time with Dr. Dyer audio) to give only one star. I was not at peace while listening to this audio book. It is basically an explanation of Dr. Dyer of the Lao-tzu rules of conduct, and perhaps as a christian that did not feel right. Perhaps I am not a very good nez person, perhaps right now I am not in the path to listen to the audio book.

    Pretty Good

This was pretty good, but not up there with his best work. I am a fan of Dr. Dyer and I think this could have been better. One drawback is his soothing voice narrating this book. His voice tended to drone me to sleep if I were in bed. I had to listen several times to hear the book due to this. As far as content...

The book is deep, "very" deep. It may be too deep for some and I think I fall into that category. It went so deep that he lost me at times. This is why I give it a 3 star rating instead of 4 or 5 stars. Deep, but not so deep that you lose the point would have been better.

I think his unabridged version of "The Power of Intention" was far better.

    Great Book

I would really recommend this book. I found it extremely enlightening, and an enjoyable read. I've read a very limited number of books in this genre. But I was so impressed I have now bought 3 hard copies of this book and I am giving them as gifts.

    Excellent book!

This book is just awesome. It brings all the wisdom of ancient times to our reality. I like the fact that Dr. Dyer makes it applicable to all walks of life and is non-denominational. You don't have to be a Buddhist, Muslim or Christian to understand that this teachings apply to all of us. The world would be a better place if we would all practice the wisdom of the Tao.

    Not the way

I actually had hopes for this book. I knew there would be some amount of pantheistic babbling but the Dao can provide some great insights into life - new ways of thinking about things. My disappointment is that this book really does not meet man's real condition in the real world. The author's application to our time and place is too vague with too few insights.I would recommend William Martin's books based on the Dao; there is one for lovers, one for parents and one for the 2nd half of life.

    Weisheit in Reinform

    He is clear

No doubt he is not talking just by talking, he knows what he is talking about, but what is more important for me, is that it is from a spiritual point of view, not about materialism.

Great insights - difficult to integrate

Actually this was quite a beautiful book, nevertheless a lot of the concepts are left freely as philosophies without much guidance how to integrate these into your life.

It’s a great insight and the author does a great job - just if your looking for a more practical approach - you won’t find it here. You need to shift your own Paradigms here .

This book was an eye opener.

This work is so profound as of someone would grab the Tao te ching he would mostly not understand it or wouldn't be able to apply the content to his daily modern life. Wayne did an fantastic job in making this ancient knowledge accessible to everyone. I have to admit it opened me up to another level of understanding. As Goethe's Faust confesses I have the beginning of Faust: knowledge accumulation ends everybody up with confusion. But it's the incorporating of natural wisdom of the Tao or the natural laws and flow of life - these principles which lead to universal understanding. Same as the choral "Wird dein Anliegen auf den Herrn" - self-created disturbances by your thought slowly start to evaporate and I can feel my long lost universal trust. Thank you Wayne ❤️
