Despite doctors giving him only hours to live, he survived the night—only to escape the hospital the next day to find more drugs. He eventually hit rock bottom while fleeing a drug dealer and turned himself in to the police, catching a robbery charge.While facing 12 years in the Ozark Correctional Center, James met a man named Paul Hines, whose genuine faith stood out. Paul challenged James to stop relying on "church lingo" and actually read the Gospels to find out who Jesus really was. James committed to this, isolating himself from his old gang friends and devouring the scriptures, deeply anchoring himself to Matthew 6:33 ("Seek the kingdom first"). Around three months into this spiritual journey, James was supernaturally healed; doctors found zero trace of liver failure or hepatitis.Restoration and Current MinistryAfter his release, James entered the Hope Homes of the Ozarks Adult and Teen Challenge. It was here that he learned crucial character development. Despite having vast biblical knowledge, he realized he needed to learn "how to be a son" to God before he could be a good father or leader.Today, James's life is entirely restored.
