The weekend’s summer heat kicked the local summer flounder up a few gears with increased action reported from Nantucket to Newport. But, as has been the case for most of the season, striped bass are still the main topic of conversation. Pockets of large stripers are holding steady in the Race, Block Island and central Rhode Island with cows over the 40-pound mark fairly common, day and night. We also saw our first summer exotics this week, with confirmed catches of triggerfish in Rhode Island and rumors of a few banded rudderfish, as well.
