Today we remember the uncovering of the relics of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, a great spiritual leader and founder of the Trinity Monastery. His relics were uncovered on July 5, 1422, after the monastery had been devastated by a Tatar invasion. Saint Sergius is known for his deep spiritual insight into the Holy Trinity and for his role in strengthening the Russian Church and nation through prayer and example. His monastery became a center of faith, learning, and defense during difficult times.
