24 - A Prophet in His Own Country. Anne of Avonlea by Lucy Maud Montgomery.
Anne of Avonlea is the 1909 sequel to Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, following Anne Shirley as she becomes a teacher in Avonlea, takes in twins Davy and Dora with Marilla, and navigates new challenges like her neighbor Mr. Harrison and the Avonlea Village Improvement Society, all while continuing her studies with Gilbert Blythe. The novel explores Anne's transition from adolescence to young womanhood, blending her characteristic imagination with new responsibilities and the joys and pains of growing up.
It is the second book in the Anne series, published after Anne of Green Gables (1908) and before Anne of the Island (1915).
