À propos de ce contenu audio
Loretta “Lottie” Jean is born into hardship. Her family is already struggling when her mother dies, and her father’s grief slowly turns into alcoholism. One by one, the family fractures. A sister leaves home in shame. A brother is blinded in a brutal accident. By the time Lottie is sixteen, she is the last child holding what remains of the family together.
Forced into adulthood far too young, Lottie becomes caretaker to her blind brother, Ansel, while quietly fearing she is destined to repeat the same life of sacrifice and silence. When she makes the risky decision to leave her hometown with Ansel, they settle in a small railroad town where Lottie finds work at a diner and begins to imagine a future beyond survival. A budding romance offers the promise of love and stability, but it also reveals how deeply control, prejudice, and buried violence shape the world around her.
As Lottie confronts the truths she has inherited and the ones she has hidden from herself, she must decide what loyalty truly means and whether choosing herself is an act of betrayal or survival. THE TRUTHS WE HIDE explores generational trauma, resilience, and a woman’s fight to claim agency in a world determined to keep her small.
