Emiline Jackson, a journalist haunted by childhood trauma, writes under the pen name Libby Lewis. Libby was her childhood friend, killed at age 10 by a drive-by shooting that Em witnessed. As an adult, Em writes about controversial social issues, yet early in her career, she avoids writing about gun control, as it is too close for comfort. A surge of mass shootings eventually shakes her resolve, pushing her to confront gun control in her work. But the new owners of the paper she works at shut her down, thwarting her efforts. Guided by the voice of her deceased friend Libby, Em seeks the truth about her past and discovers a hidden world of ghost guns. With the support of her community, she takes on the dangerous trade, uncovering corruption along the way. As tensions rise, Em must confront her brother's involvement and the sinister forces protecting the illicit business. In a climactic showdown, justice prevails, and Em embraces her true identity, opting to continue her crusade in her hometown, leaving a legacy of courage and change.
