 Good evening, folks! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the Texas Weather Podcast for Saturday, February 21st. Here's the deal. Texas is running a 30 degree temperature spread right now. South Texas hit 85 degrees today. North Texas barely cracked the low 60s. That's like summer and fall having a staring contest across I-35. But the real headline tonight? Fire danger. A Red Flag Warning covers most of South and Central Texas. Humidity dropped to 10 percent today. Combine that with winds gusting to 30 miles an hour, and any spark becomes a nightmare. If you're thinking about a backyard fire pit tonight, don't. Just don't. Down in South Texas, you're crashing from 85 degrees to 44 by 35 degrees A.M. tomorrow. That's a 40 degree nosedive overnight. Your body won't know what hit it. Central Texas saw low 70s today with a steady 35 degrees mile an hour breeze. Tonight you'll drop to around 40 degrees. Head up to North Texas and those gusts hit 30 miles an hour. Some spots west of I-35 could flirt with a light freeze overnight. Lows settling near 35 degrees. Along the Gulf Coast, you're seeing 78 degrees but the water is angry. Waves pushing 8 feet. Rip currents are serious through Sunday. Stay out of the surf unless you want the ocean making decisions for you. Overnight lows near 46 degrees, feeling closer to 40 with that wind. Sunday brings cooler air everywhere. Highs in the 50s and 60s. Winds finally ease up, but fire risk lingers. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Monday and Tuesday start a slow warm up back into the 70s and 80s. By Wednesday, South Texas could punch 92 degrees. That's a summer preview nobody asked for. Another cold front slides in late week, knocking things back to the 70s by Friday. Dry conditions hold strong all week. We're gaining daylight fast. Sunrise at 7:07 A.M., sunset at 6:25 P.M. One more thing. If this forecast keeps you prepared, share it with a neighbor.
