 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia,Margus Tsahkna , continues to voice a tough stance against Russia, particularly in his statements on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in mid-February 2026.
The main points of his call for "greater pressure" include:
  • No-Fly Zone : He publicly called on NATO countries to consider establishing a no- fly zone over western Ukraine to protect civilian infrastructure from intensifying Russian missile attacks.
  • Tighter Energy Sanctions : Estonia is demanding a tightening of the price cap on Russian oil and total sanctions on Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) still flowing into Europe, in order to cut off the funding source for Moscow's war machine.
  • Baltic Military Readiness : As part of the pressure, he stressed the importance of full implementation of NATO's regional defense plan in the Baltic region, including the permanent deployment of larger allied forces on the Estonian-Russian border.
