Current conditions as of February 2026 include:
- The Threat of Malnutrition : Around 4.2 million children and pregnant and lactating mothers are estimated to suffer from acute malnutrition throughout 2026, an increase of 14% from the previous year.
- Funding Crisis : The World Food Programme (WFP) warns that food aid stocks will run out by the end of March 2026 due to a severe funding shortfall . The WFP needs $700 million to continue operations until June 2026.
- Access Barriers : Ongoing violence, drone attacks, and the siege of areas by the warring parties (SAF and RSF) drastically limit the ability of humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to the areas most in need.
