    Description

Named one of the top 10 lifestyle books for fall 2017 by Publishers Weekly.

In tales from 21 knitters, Clara Parkes examines a subject that is irresistible to us all: the yarn stash.

Anyone with a passion has a stash, whether it is a collection of books or enough yarn to exceed several life expectancies. With her trademark wry, witty approach, Parkes brings together fascinating stories from all facets of stash-keeping and knitting life - from KonMari minimalist to joyous collector, designer to dyer, spinner to social worker, scholar to sheep farmer.

Whether the yarn stash is muse, memento, creative companion, career guide, or lifeline in tough times, these deeply engaging stories take a surprising and fascinating look at why we collect, what we cherish, and how we let go.

Contributors include New York Times best-selling authors Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and Debbie Stoller, Meg Swansen and Franklin Habit, Ann Shayne and Kay Gardiner, Adrienne Martini, and a host of others.

Another Delightful Read From Clara Parkes

Clara Parkes has outdone herself with this collection of essays. The varying viewpoints were interesting to hear. Even if I didn't agree overall with a stated philosophy, there were still points within that I identified with. Behold the power of yarn to unite. Franklin Habit's essay was particularly poignant and personal. That one in particular will stick with me for a while.

I strongly believe that the publisher has done everyone (readers, listeners, essayists, and editor) an enormous disservice by not having Clara Parkes narrate this anthology. Two of the three narrators are wooden and stilted, clearly having a complete lack of fiber in their souls. The writing is strong enough to overcome these deficits but the voice of the writers could have been so much more. I still encourage knitters to give a listen anyway. It's like knitting an excellent yarn base with a dye job not quite equal to it. And let's face it, that still beats a beautiful dye on a crappy base any day.

If you're a knitter, this is for you.

Loved this book I may listen again; something I rarely do. I found the essays entertaining and interesting, Thanks to several discussions on stash care, feeding and psychology I have actually already done an initial stash cull! If you are a knitter....go for it. If you're not, maybe it wouldn't be as interesting to you.

I love everything about this! Empowering for the Stash of collected yarn or fiber or whatever textile art materials you might love too. No shaming here:)

    I love my stash!

This was such a splendid book to listed to. I thoroughly enjoyed the different opinions on stash. Once again a winner from Clara Parkes.

    great "read" for any knitter.

only wish the real persons were narrating or at least a person with the same accent ie G. Johnston would be read by someone from Scotland.

    Fabulous!

Another amazing book by Clara! What a great collaboration! I decided to listen to this book while I organized my own yarn stash. I thought I had far too much and believed I would never live long enough to knit it all. I really enjoyed the different perspectives on what is an "appropriate" stash. Some of the stories had me tearing up while others had me laughing out loud. I began to incorporate some of the sentiments on yarn stash into my own process. It was like having some of my favorite people from the fiber community right there beside me helping me make some tough decisions. I loved it!!

Enjoyable listen while I knit from my stash

Great little short stories. Some make you laugh and some for a good cry. No matter how you use, consume, buy or stash yarn you will feel and identify with each story. Well worth the listen.

    So Much Stash

The stories were good but even I got tired of hearing the word stash.
