Summary
This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
Wren Halloway was laid off on a Friday afternoon with a cardboard box and a handshake. On Monday morning she wakes on a cot behind the counter of the Sixth Landing General Store, near the bottom of a mapped, mostly tame dungeon, while a dented brass lantern scolds her for being late.

Everyone down here carries a quiet Ledger of levels and skills, and Wren's is polite, puzzled and entirely unimpressed by swords. It rewards haggling, mending, pickling, counting and kindness. The shop is dusty, the shelves are bare, and the stairs to the lowest floor run right past the front door, where exhausted adventurers trudge by every day without buying so much as a bandage. Wren has no combat skill, one box of office supplies and a pad of yellow sticky notes. She also has thirty mornings to decide whether to use the door that leads home.

Then the little wins begin to add up. A retired cook who says four words a day sits outside a cold kitchen. A nervous apprentice mapmaker apologizes to the furniture. A talking lantern has strong opinions about lamp oil. Sugar turns out to be salt, a stern guild auditor arrives with a ruled ledger and a tin of marmalade, and someone is quietly spoiling the stock. Before the thirtieth morning, the shop has to earn its keep, or the lower floors will be closed for good.

This is a long, warm, funny listen for anyone who loves numbers going up, found family, small-town kindness and a very patient shop. Status screens are spoken in short plain sentences, there is almost no fighting, and nobody gets hurt.

A cozy fantasy of shopkeeping, found family and staying.
