Viper Ravenclaw
Author of Ghost in a Shattered Machine 2001 and the Neon City Cycle 2011 and now 2025 Blood and Circuits, along with Maryam’s Creation.

Viper Ravenclaw is the pen name of a reclusive writer who surfaced on underground fiction boards in the early 2000’s and vanished almost as quickly from public view. Little is confirmed about her real identity; the few verified details come from old IRC logs, defunct Substack footnotes, and one grainy 2017 podcast appearance where the voice was run through so many filters it sounded like a demon with a head cold.

What is known:
• She claims to have grown up in a decaying Rust-Belt city that “felt like someone had already written the apocalypse and just forgot to tell the residents.”

She spent years working night-shift tech support for a company that shall not be named (“the one that rhymes with ‘Fear-oCore’”), which provided both the paycheck and an endless supply of horror stories about corporate AI ethics.• she is a combat veteran (branch and dates redacted at their request) who says the Neon City books started as a private joke: “What if the war never ended, it just moved into the wires and started charging by the minute?”

She types on a battered ThinkPad that still runs Windows 7 because “new machines feel too optimistic.”

Ravenclaw’s prose is raw, funny, filthy, and strangely tender in the same breath. Critics who try to pin the work as “mere cyberpunk” usually miss the point; these are love stories wearing body armor and covered in someone else’s blood.

Recurring obsessions include:
• the moment a machine realizes it can lie,
• what grief looks like when it has root access,
• and whether a person can ever really love something that was built to mirror their loneliest parts back at them.

No author photo. A standing policy of declining every convention invite with the same four-word reply: “I’m allergic to panels.” The only confirmed signal is a TikTok account, @viperravenclaw1, where Pin sometimes talks back.

The books drop erratically, usually with zero warning. Readers who finish one and want to say thanks are instructed to buy a drink for a lonely vet or donate to drone-pilot PTSD charities (instructions are in every afterword).
Current whereabouts: unknown.
Last confirmed sighting: a grainy security-cam still from a dive bar in Charlotte, NC, 2025, showing someone in a black hoodie raising a bourbon to the camera with two scarred fingers in what might have been a salute.
Until the next chapter drops without warning, that’s all we’ve got.

And honestly, that feels exactly right.
