Victoria Pope Hubbell

A Midwest girl for many generations, I've lived in Missouri since I was eighteen. My first book, A Town on Two Rivers, is the history of the area most people know as the Lake of the Ozarks. The book chronicles all aspects of life from 1870-1970. My second book, Blood River Rising, is the true tale of a feud that took place in Miller Country, Missouri in the 1920s.

I backed into being an author when I moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and was unable to get a job teaching. Lucky for me, the town of Osage Beach was looking for someone to write the history of the area and I got the job. It proved a most rewarding endeavor as I thoroughly enjoyed the 100+ interviews necessary to complete the history. Toward the end of my research for that book, I got hooked on the story of the Thompson-Crimson feud when I met Hadley Thompson. He had been haunted by the story for over seventy years, questioning why friends and neighbors started shooting at one another. My job was first to figure out who committed the crimes and why, so again, I interviewed.

My next book, Goddess of Land and Sea, is fiction. The only interviews necessary are people who know animals really well, as it's the story of Noah's Ark told by Noah's wife's point of view. I hope you enjoy my books and will visit me on my website, VictoriaPopeHubbell.com
