Several years ago, back on the island of Jamaica where I was born, I started writing down my thoughts and feelings about the things in my life. Sometimes it would be about people. It was as if I needed that time when I'm alone, to really process things and put them down on paper. Thus, I knew that someday I would write a book. I just didn't know when. I also had no idea what that book would be about. I didn't know it would be about the person closest to my heart, my only daughter and best friend, Karen.

The Caregiver Perspective is my fourth publication, plus a second edition of my first, Too Deep for Tears. The title of the second edition is One Last Teardrop. I believe writing that book was what the Lord used to keep me here after my beloved went to sleep. I woke each day to write and went to sleep when I could not write anymore. I wrote everything I could remember about this girl from when she was just a little girl, the person she was in my life. I even wrote things I should have left out, one could imagine.

Inevitably, there had to be a second edition. I guess that's why it's called a second edition, with all that revision and more. I have been so blessed in spite of it all, and I am thankful for my two wonderful sons who have been there for me through it all. I have also been blessed with four grandchildren and the support of a host of relatives and some special friends.
