Shelley J Whitehead knows that love is more than chemistry, good intentions, or finding the “right” person; it is a skill we can learn, practise, and strengthen.
An award-winning relationship coach with more than 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and groups, Shelley helps people build the skills that create healthier, more grounded, and connected relationships. She is a Certified Life Coach, Certified Transpersonal Coach, Encounter-Centered Couples Coach, Ericksonian Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, and Advanced Authentic Self Empowerment Facilitator. Shelley is the author of Healing Your Heartbreak: 28 Days to Transformation and Love Is a Skill: 28 Essential Skills to Transform the Way You Love. Her work grew from both professional experience and personal truth. Having been bereaved, dumped, and divorced, she discovered that healing heartbreak is only part of the journey. Building authentic, healthy relationships requires a different set of skills, and these skills need to be practised in real life.
Shelley regularly contributes to BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and LBC, and has appeared in publications and broadcasts including The Times, The Daily Mail, The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC News, ITV and Sky News.
She divides her time with her husband between their homes in Cape Town and London, Shelley loves gardening, cooking, family gatherings, mountain hikes, country walks, and long lunches.
