Michael Dunne

Detroit native Michael Dunne worked in China and Southeast Asia for 28 years, where he
founded two startups, was president of General Motors and the managing director of J.D. Power in China. Today, Michael Dunne is the CEO of Dunne Insights, an advisory firm with expertise in electric and autonomous vehicle markets.

Dunne is the author of American Wheels, Chinese Roads (2011) and of the forthcoming book, Car Wars: How China. Seized the Auto Industry and How America Wins It Back.

Dunne earned an MA in Chinese history and an MBA from. the University of Michigan. He also studied for one year at the University of Aix-en-Provence. He was trained at the US Marine Corps Platoon Leadership Training, Officer Candidate School.

Dunne speaks Chinese, Thai and Indonesian. He and his wife Merlien live in San Diego together with their four children.
