John Norman Cooper

Dr John Norman Cooper was born in London in 1939. As a young man, he worked on sheep farms in Australia and later as a land surveyor in Africa. He studied at Liverpool, Aberdeen and Strathclyde universities and spent much of his professional life working in the Scottish whisky industry. A lifelong writer and reader, he has a particular interest in dreams, synchronicity and the work of C. G. Jung. These interests, together with his experiences of England, Australia, Africa and Scotland, helped shape The Recycling of Nathan Scrzimshaw series. John describes his writing as emerging largely from unconscious impulses, with characters seeming at times to develop lives of their own. Now retired, he lives in the Western Cape of South Africa.
