Francis Anderson

Francis Anderson grew up in Nigeria, where he learned early how thin the line can be between the life you are offered and the life you choose. His debut novel, Glass and Darkness, is a deeply personal story inspired by his own journey: escaping the grip of a gang, surviving health challenges, and confronting haunting dreams that nearly stole his childhood.

Francis Anderson is the pen name of Dr Olaitan Akinyele, a Chartered Engineer, doctoral scholar and award-winning community advocate who now lives in Aberdeen, Scotland, where his passion for storytelling took shape. He volunteers with orphanages and community organisations supporting young people and minority groups.

Through his writing, he turns pain into purpose, telling stories about friendship, loyalty, hope and the resilience of the human spirit, and inviting readers to look “through a glass, darkly” at the fragile truths that shape us all.

When he isn’t writing, you’ll find him hiking the Scottish Highlands. He is at work on his next novel.
