Derek Dykstra

Derek Dykstra is a Nova Scotia–born author, car enthusiast, songwriter, and lifelong storyteller. Driven by a passion for creativity, detail, and emotional connection, Derek brings the same energy to his writing that he brings to music, cars, and life on Canada’s East Coast.

His debut mystery-thriller series introduces readers to a gripping world of secrets, betrayal, and high-stakes suspense. Blending intricate puzzles with unexpected twists, Derek’s work invites readers to question every clue and uncover hidden truths alongside his characters. His stories are built on tension, loyalty, perseverance, and the belief that even in the darkest moments, there is always another turn waiting ahead.

A lifelong fan of fiction, Derek first fell in love with stories that pushed the boundaries of imagination while keeping readers on edge. Today, he channels that same passion into creating thrillers that deliver heart-pounding suspense, emotional stakes, and characters readers can root for.

Outside of writing, Derek is a proud father of one, a loyal friend, a devoted car enthusiast, and a songwriter who enjoys crafting music with heart, grit, and honesty. Whether he is working on a new story, writing lyrics, or enjoying time behind the wheel, Derek is drawn to the power of momentum, emotion, and connection.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Derek continues to draw inspiration from the culture, community, and rugged beauty of Canada’s East Coast. At his writing desk, in a song, or on the open road, he is driven by the same core belief: that stories have the power to connect, to challenge, and to leave a lasting mark.
