I write because therapy is expensive and screaming into the void lacks editorial oversight.

My interests include vintage analog technology, NORAD-style command systems, and the kind of engineering that begins with the question, "What if everything goes wrong at once?" I also have a morbid fixation with finding out what happens when our climate gets so hot the general public turns from "medium rare" to "well done." I maintain a deeply realistic view of AI, which is to say I'm fairly certain we're teaching our future mistakes to optimize themselves.

Personally, I still believe in natural stupidity.

I refuse to take advice from the Author Bio Starter Pack Manual. Nothing can convince me that long walks on the beach, hiking, living my best life, embracing the journey, making memories, chasing sunsets, or any other activity that sounds suspiciously like an Instagram caption constitutes a personality.

Instead, I enjoy old technology so reliable it refuses to let you replace it, systems designed by people who assumed failure was fatal, and conversations about the future that don't sound like venture capital pitches. I admire machines built to survive nuclear war and distrust software that requires three updates, a subscription, and a cloud account to open a spreadsheet.

I'm definitely not optimistic about humanity's future. The climate, the economy, the algorithms, and most of the available evidence have done an admirable job of discouraging that. Still, I'm willing to admit that history occasionally surprises me by not being completely awful.
